Do your Clothes Define you?

Do your Clothes Define you?

If you scanned your life what would come out tops as your favourite all time outfit? Mine was a check grey and white mixed wool and cotton mixed style blouson jacket. It had a collar that stood up with two lapels that added an extra sense of style to the garment. It looked great over skinny jeans covering my long, slender, sixteen year old legs that went on forever. It even made it onto television when I was a guest on a children's show with children's presenter Elvis Payne and a very young Gordon Honeycomb. It showed it’s dexterity when teamed up with a grey and white checked borderline skirt with pleats all the way round.

Can Making the Bed Change Your Life?

Can Making the Bed Change Your Life?

Have you ever wondered what an unmade bed says about you? could the way you leave your bed each morning reflect your state of mind?   In the sixties my family lived in one room on the top floor of a terraced house in South London. The bed took centre stage and if left unmade would throw the whole room into disarray. With the bed made, the room would take on a certain glow and everything else that needed to be tidied would fall into place. Imagine A World Without Trees?

Imagine A World Without Trees?

Can you imagine what your neighbourhood or this country would look like if there were no trees covering the countryside or dotted around our cities, towns or villages? In her novel The Twelve Tribes Of Hattie, author Ayana Mathis describes this scene perfectly when she writes, “ She smelled the absence of trees before she saw it…” There was a time in the past when the UK was covered in wild forests, where trees would live for up to 2000 years. We’ve become adept at a type of hearing which processes information through our own personal filters. Most...

Celebrating Springtime

Celebrating Springtime

Spring is the season of hope where we see the early signs of the labour of the winter months come to life. What a good time to notice the parallels in our own lives. Whether our New Year hopes and plans have failed or stalled, spring reminds us that there's still time to start over again. Spring is here I woke up this morning to find the patio outside my kitchen door scattered with big, thick, clumps of fiery green moss, fallen debris from the guttering where the magpies are making their nests, the first hints that spring is on it’s way. Researchers are...

Writing a Diary Saved My Life

Writing a Diary Saved My Life

Imagine getting to the end of your life and there's no record of who you are, where you've been, no trace of the range of emotions, feelings you’ve experienced at various points or stages of your life. What if your memory slowly melted into candy floss, too soft to recall the intricate, sometimes simple and other times significant details of your past life? Leaving you without hard evidence and data of what you’ve lived through, the obstacles you'd overcome and the success you'd achieved over the years? A point brought home in an advert I clipped out of a magazine for...
